Artsy is an online platform that provides an online space for art galleries and art dealers to showcase and sell artwork.

Artsy was founded in 2009 by Carter Cleveland and Preston Lake. The company is headquartered in New York City. Artsy has raised $73 million in venture funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, Thrive Capital, and Sequoia Capital.

Artsy’s mission is to make the world’s art accessible to everyone and to support the success of artists and galleries. Artsy’s website has sections for different types of artworks, including painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, prints, installation, video/film, and public art.

Users can browse through artwork by artist, date range, genre, or color; they can also search for specific artists or keywords.

The benefits of using Artsy

Artsy advertises its marketplace to collectors in select cities to drive awareness and allows global art buyers to buy directly from galleries, without the need for a middleman.

Also, they have the world’s largest base of active collectors and art lovers giving them the ability to match artworks with likely buyers quickly and accurately. Galleries can create a profile on the site and upload images of their managed artists’ works. They can then set prices, promote relevant events and manage their own sales.

Artsy also provide targeted advertising which enables galleries to reach a custom audience of collectors who have demonstrated an interest in an artist or gallery through multi-channel advertising campaigns.

For buyers, Artsy offers access to a wide range of artworks from around the world which are handpicked and represented by trusted gallery partners. Furthermore, they have the world’s most comprehensive selection of artwork in one place, offering a more accurate, real-time and in-depth understanding of market trends. Buyers can search for works by artist, genre, or price range. They can also follow their favorite artists and receive notifications when new works are added to the site.

Artsy’s main differentiator is the quality of its content, security and technology. The site is backed by a large team of art experts, many of whom are former gallery owners and art critics. These experts provide detailed written descriptions of each artwork, explaining their cultural context and significance. Also, they leverage the enormous data to:
